What are the uses of Hydrochloric Acid

The chemical formula for hydrochloric acid is HCl, and its molecular weight is 36.47 g/mol. ( 1,3) Hydrochloric acid occurs as a colourless, nonflammable aqueous solution or gas. ( 1,3,4) Hydrochloric acid has an irritating, pungent odour, with an odour threshold of about 7 mg/m.

Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is commonly used for the neutralisation of alkaline agents, as a bleaching agent, in food, textile, metal, and rubber industries. It is neutralised if released into the soil and it rapidly hydrolyzes when exposed to water.

Hydrochloric acid has many uses. It is used in the production of chlorides, fertilisers, and dyes, in electroplating, and in the photographic, textile, and rubber industries. Hydrochloric acid is corrosive to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes.
